| Student looks over postcards from the Theising Collection |
On Tuesday, September 26, I organized a mixed media session for my 3 literature courses in the Eugene B. Redmond Learning Center at Lovejoy Library. The students covered two sets of materials -- items concerning Redmond's photographs on Maya Angelou and Eugene Redmond and postcards from the Andrew J. Theising Research Collection.
The session on postcards included a short audio production that I composed drawing from interviews I did with Theising about the processes of collecting 339 historic postcards and other materials on East St. Louis. The session also included a sampling of the fronts and backs of postcards from the collection. Students accessed the audio file and images using tablets.
