The beginning of the event with fairly blank boards |
On Tuesday, November 17, we organized a "Dear SIUE from BSU" project, where about 100 students collectively composed "letters" to administrators, raising awareness about challenges facing African American students at the university. The letters, directed to administrators as well as some of the folks who've offered support for the interests of BSU and other groups, included short reflections, images, illustrations, and photographs concerning glimpses of black student interests, fears, vulnerabilities, hopes, and experiences.
