This semester, I'm covering far less poetry than I did say, 10 years ago. Back in 2012, I covered about 50 or so poems in one of my classes. But this semester, I'm covering about 15.
I've ended up including a wider variety of works (visual art, comic books, whiteboard animations, etc.) so that has meant that I had to remove some things. So less poems.
I have mixed feelings of course. On the one hand, there are so many poems I enjoyed covering. On the other hand, it's been crucial exposing the students to more kinds of works.
