Folks who read Toni Morrison's Song of Solomon (1977) are often intrigued or disturbed by this mysterious group known as the Seven Days. It's a group of black men who enact revenge on white people for racist crimes committed against black people.
I asked scholar Abbey Morgan to write an episode for Remarkable Receptions about how the high school students she works with had responded to the novel. So often, scholarship in American and African American literary studies focuses on scholars and occasionally college students. But we have so little from scholars on high school students.
So, I'm really pleased to have this episode by Morgan.
