Getting ready for the Frederick Douglass Institute

We're almost there.

We spent the last several months preparing. Tomorrow, we'll host the opening reception for our NEH Institute, Frederick Douglass and Literary Crossroads. The Institute will involve 25 school teachers from across the country.

We'll cover Douglass's Narrative and think through a number of approaches. The Institute seeks to provide the participating teachers to:
• exposure to scholars with expertise on Douglass studies and African American literary studies
• chances to interact with a variety of secondary teachers who cover literature
• information about an array of pedagogical print-based, mixed media texts, and digital resources
I'm excited to get started.
