100 Entries Later

By Briana Whiteside

Today, I have reached my 100th blog! This is a major accomplishment for me and has helped refine my writing since 2012 when I began blogging here. I have grown quite fond of the process.

Over time, blogging has become second nature, and I cannot imagine doing it irregularly. It has helped the thesis writing go more smoothly for me, as I can see snapshots of my ideas on the page before writing an extended paper.

If students had the platform and space to write continuously on a topic for an extended period of time, it would assist in minimizing some of the anxieties surrounding writing. One reason my thesis process went as smoothly as it did was because I produced all these short entries on topics that were related to my main research project on Octavia Butler for 2 years.

Through blogging, I have the opportunity to share my ideas and concerns that might not be heard at any other time. It has been proven beneficial for idea development, technical writing, and staying committed to various topics.

Overall, I am grateful that I was granted the opportunity to blog on the Cultural Front site.
