Photography and the City

Justin taking a shot in NYC

Our traveler Justin Slay was one of our more active photographers on the trip. Over the last year, he had taken a photography course at SIUE under the instruction of a photographer/professor. The class really expanded Justin’s interest in and knowledge in photography.

Justin traveled to NYC last year with us, but this year, he returned feeling more prepared to really document our movements around the city. We’ll have to wait a bit until Justin develops his film to see the results. But I was quite impressed with his serious approach, and I managed to get a number of photos of him in the act of capturing scenes and his subjects.

I also got a couple of audio recordings of him discussing his work. Here he is at the beginning of the trip.
