"The Wire" and Black Studies

In a NYTIMES article, noted Harvard sociologist William Julius Wilson will teach a course on the HBO show The Wire for the black studies department at Harvard next fall.

"The Wire," explains Wilson, "has done more to enhance our understanding of the challenges of urban life and the problems of urban inequality than any other media event or scholarly publications, including studies by social scientists.”
