To promote and highlight Maya Angelou's recent visit to SIUE, I curated “Eighty Moods of Maya Angelou,” a photographic exhibit from Lovejoy Library's Eugene B. Redmond Collection. The exhibit showcases Dr. Angelou socializing with fellow artists, performing poetry, celebrating achievements with friends and family, and entertaining guests at her home in North Carolina. The vibrant versatility of facial expressions, body language and hand motions that Angelou assumes in the photographs confirms Redmond’s notion about the eighty-plus “moods of Maya.”
All kinds of folks helped bring the exhibit together. Folks in the library. Black Studies contributors. Friends. Family. In fact, my young brother designed many of the exhibit's key display panels. So altogether, the processes of pulling the exhibit together was a really grassroots, collaborative experience.
The exhibit will remain up in Lovejoy Library throughout October.

What a wonderful project! Congratulations! And thanks for creating this space for sharing it. I would prefer to see this exhibit in person, but this is the next best thing. (-:
