So in the spirit of applying the idea of a digital movement to appreciating African American literary art, we've begun a few experiments re-presenting black poetry on youtube.
Here's the jump off.
For our first video, we wanted to start with words by Aldon Nielsen, a literary critic whose prose is filled with all kinds of magical lines like those presented here. And, we include images of writers who'll show up again in our series: Eugene Redmond, Tyehimba Jess, Amiri Baraka, Colson Whitehead, Nikki Giovanni, and Tracie Morris.
We hope you enjoy. There's more to come.
