A notebook on Bad Men: Creative Touchstones of Black Writers

My second book, Bad Men: Creative Touchstones of Black Writers, is published by the University of Virginia Press. It's been a long journey to this point, so I'm excited for the book to finally appear. In many respects, Bad Men is a book about creativity, specifically how large numbers of black writers are inspired by bad men and vulnerable black boys.

Congratulations Howard! I can't wait to read this. You have always been such an inspiration to me and I have been awaiting your book since the day I met you in 1998 on the greens of Tougaloo. No one that insightful and wise beyond their years doesn't write a book! I am thinking of you in these times of unrest and uprising and all that I learned from you about your lived experience and that of the American Descendants of Slavery in the south. I'm old now, and the years have not been easy on me, but I'm still going to a protest this evening in solidarity with the black community that once took me in, welcomed me, and taught me a history that few people get to learn. There are some student debts, that you cannot repay in money. I know you know that. Congrats again and peace and stay safe brother.
