Developing a Space: The EBR Learning Center

This entry is part of a series about 20 Years of African American Literary Studies at SIUE.

I won’t bore you by retelling the full story of how we went from some exhibits around campus to a small underground reading room on the third floor of Lovejoy Library to the Eugene B. Redmond (EBR) Center, which opened on October 19, 2015, on the second floor. Trust me when I tell you it’s been a journey.

Of the many things I’ve worked on with various folks on during my 20 years here, I’m especially proud that we created this intellectual and arts space on campus.
