I somehow came across Arnold Adoff's
I Am the Darker Brother: Am Anthology of Modern Poems by Black Americans (1968)
long before I even knew of the Black Arts Movement. The book was one of many African American titles on the bookshelves in my childhood home. Years later, I came across the book again in my research and realized that Adoff had edited additional anthologies. I also discovered that the anthology was connected to a larger black arts enterprise.
