Black Panther #1 cover by Todd Nauck

The Comic Book Legal Defense Fund (CBLDF), a non-profit organization that works to protect the First Amendment rights of artists, sponsored a variant cover of Black Panther #1 by artist Todd Nauck.

The cover by Nauck depicts the Black Panther/T'Challa leaping from a building in a city scene, possibly New York City. The image of T'Challa mid-leap corresponds to the Alex Ross variant cover and the KABAM Game/Disney Infinity cover.

In some ways, the feel of the image is a throwback to when comic book heroes were primarily fighting crime in NYC or other familiar imagined urban contexts. Even the lettering of "Black Panther" suggests an old-school comic book style.
