The Changing Black Neighborhoods of Edward P. Jones’s Lost in the City

Edward P. Jones’s stories are situated in Washington, D.C., neighborhoods that were primarily Black during the periods he presents. By 2020, however, none of these four story locations constituted a majority-Black census neighborhood, which indicates the demographic transformation of the city over time.
